The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo is located in Gulf Shores, Alabama, United States of America. It was earlier named as Zooland Animal Park and the name was later changed to the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo. The Gulf Coast Zoo was established in 1989, making it a rather new zoo compared to the other ones. The Zoo is operated by a non-profit organization, Zoo Foundation, Inc. It is home to over 500 animals of different species all over the world. Initially Zoo was built on 17 acres of land donated by the Ward family. Later, another 13 acres of land were donated to the Zoo, this area is still undeveloped. The Gulf Shores zoo organizes a special event named as Zoo Camp for elementary school age children.
Gulf Coast Zoo Animals
The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo has more than 500 animals of different species around the globe. There are various species of animals, including lions, tigers, snakes, monkeys, bears, macaws, wolves, leopards, etc. There is a separate petting Zoo, reptile house and aviary as well. The Zoo allows visitors to get close to the animals, under supervision of their trained staff. The various encounters include Sloth encounter, Lemur encounter, Reptile garden, Kangaroo encounters.

Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo Membership
The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo Membership is designed in five different categories. The membership plans include Individual membership, Friendship membership, Grandparent membership, Family membership, Group membership. There are various benefits provided with the different kind of membership plans. The zoo membership can be bought, renewed or gifted online by visiting official website; and offline, by visiting the zoo. The Minimum age to hold a zoo membership is 16 years. It is an annual membership and cannot be transferred to someone else. The Gulf Coast Zoo membership allows unlimited visits to the zoo for a year.
Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo Hours
The Gulf Coast Zoo opens daily except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. The Zoo opens at 09:00 AM every day and closes at 04:00 PM. The Zoo hours remain the same for all the regular days, in case of special events the timing of Zoo might see a change. The various summer events are generally organized within the Gulf Coast Zoo timings.
Gulf Coast Zoo Special Event
The Gulf Coast Zoo organizes Zoo camps for all the kids of elementary school age. The age group permitted is from 5 years to 11 years. Zoo Camp is a full day event and it starts at 9:00 AM and ends at 03:00 PM. The campers are taken to an experience where they can greet the animals personally, meet the Zookeepers, etc. There are various activities organized for the little campers to make it a special event. The Zoo Camp is designed keeping in mind the fun, educational and overall an enriching experience for the kids.

The Gulf Coast Zoo is well maintained and designed. The Zoo is spread over a large area and the navigation through the zoo is easy. It has a wide variety of animals, birds and reptiles. The zoo offers visitors to feed the animals, which makes them feel closer to the nature. The Zoo will be expanded soon and it will be a treat to the visitors in the coming times.
