Thrissur Zoo Timings, Entry Fee and Location

Thrissur Zoo is among one of the oldest zoo of India and it is located in Thrissur city, Kerala. The zoo was opened in 1885 and formerly known as Trichur Zoo. It is a small size zoo and it spreads in the area of 13.5 acres. The zoo complex houses botanical garden, zoological garden, Natural history museum and heart museum. Thrissur Zoo would be shifted to its new home near Puthur where new zoo is in under construction. The land area of new zoo would be 306 acres. Apart from the museum and Zoo, a small snake park is also located inside the Zoo. Few snakes are kept in this reptile house and King cobra is the star attraction.

Thrissur Zoo Timings

The Thrissur Zoo timing is 10 AM to 6.30 PM throughout the year. Zoo remains closed on every Monday due to weekly off. The museum remains open from 10 AM to 5PM and it also remains closed on Monday. On Wednesday it opens at 1 PM for visitors.

Thrissur Zoo Entry Fee

Entry fee of Thrissur Zoo is very affordable and pocket friendly. Visitors need to purchase 8 Rs ticket for entry in the zoo. Children aged from 5 to 12 years need to pay 5 Rs for an entry ticket. The family ticket rate is 22 Rs, which allows entry to mother, father and their two kids below 12 years of age. Group ticket charge is 100 Rs for up to 35 students (good for school/institutes). Still Digital camera charges are 15 Rs and video camera charges are 50 Rs. Professional video camera charges are 750 Rs.

State Museum

If you are interested in the history, state museum is a must visit place in the Thrissur Zoological park. No separate entry ticket is required to enter inside the museum. The museum has a good collection of historical items like swords, jewellery, rocks, weapons and other ancient stuffs. Photography is not allowed inside the museum. A history buff might spend hours inside the museum.
