Safdarjung Tomb is located in Safdarjung area of New Delhi. It is the last tomb, which was based on the pattern started with Humayun’s Tomb. Tomb of Safdarjung was built in 1753-54 as a mausoleum of Safdarjung. It is enclosed garden tomb made in Mughal Empire style. Safdarjung Tomb complex has a lush green garden and water channels. The garden is the smaller version of Humayun’s Tomb garden and it is based on Mughal’s charbagh garden style. The gardens are enclosed by 920 feet long walls from each side. 4 fountains are present in the complex on all the four sides of the tomb. Jangali Mahal, Moti Mahal and Badshah Pasand are situated inside the complex. A Madarsa is also located inside the complex. The tomb is maintained by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).

Safdarjung Tomb opens all days of the week from Sunrise to Sunset. (7 AM to 6 PM). Ticket prices for Indians are 25 Rs and foreigners have to pay 300 Rs for the entry in Safdarjang Tomb. It is a good place to click the picture, so digital camera entry is free. 25 Rs fee for video camera. Free entry to children up to 15 years of age.
How to Reach
Safdarjung Tomb is located on the intersection of Safdarjung Road and Aurobindo Marg near to Safdarjung Airport. It is very accessible from all parts of the city. Delhi Metro is the best option to reach here, Jorbagh Metro station is the nearest metro station. Jorbagh Metro station is just 300 meters away from the Tomb of Safdarjung. Jor Bagh and Safdarjung Madarsa are the nearest bus stand near the tomb. Visitors can take the services of Bus, Auto and taxi to reach here.

Safdarjung Airport is just 500 Meters from here; however, it is not functional for normal flights. Indira Gandhi International Airport is 26 KM from here. The nearest railway station is Safdarjung Station (5 KM); very few trains operate or halt here. Major Railway station New Delhi Railway Station is just 7 KM from here.
Tomb is famous for wanderers, history buffs, family outings and couple dating. The place is well maintained, so it is advised for visitors kindly maintained the decorum and cleanliness of the place. Summer afternoons are very hot in Delhi, so it advisable to avoid the hot afternoons of summer and visit this place during morning hours. Winters are probably the best time to visit this beautiful Mausoleum.
