Phoenix zoo opening hour is 9 AM and it closes at 5 PM. The Phoenix Zoo houses more than 3000 animals of 400 different species. To visit the entire zoo and explore visitors have to spend 3-4 hrs in the zoo. There is early entry also available at 08:00 AM for zoo members only.

Phoenix Zoo Trails

Four types of trails are available in Phoenix Zoo.

Africa Trail: In the Africa trails, visitors can see the world famous animals like mandrills, Ostrich, Gazelle, Southern White Rhino, African Painted dogs, Lions, Cheetahs, Giraffes etc.

Arizona Trail: In the Arizona trail, visitors can watch the wildlife of Arizona. It also shows the plant life with the touch of desert. With the exciting tour visitors may face mountain lion, turkey vulture, thick billed parrot, Mexican Grey wolf, Coyote etc. in this trail.

Tropics Trail: The Tropics trail are divided in two parts :

  • Inner Trail: In inner tropics trail through the lake there is a home to the Tropical Fights, as well as here is the monkey village of Squirrel Monkeys.
  • Outer Trail: In Outer Tropics trail through the path of komodo dragons, Asian Elephants, Jaguar, Sumatran Tigers, Tortoises etc available .

Children’s Trail : In this trail many small animals taken from many countries. Here children gets close with many small animals like siamang gibbons, golden lion tamarins, ocelot, emus etc

The Phoenix Zoo organised many event and tours for the visitors.

The Lost Bird Project: The Lost bird project is specially dedicated to vanished times and vanished species. It is the part of natural history. The Lost Bird Project is the subject of film which premiered in December 2012.

Art on the Wild Side ( A Closer Look) 

Dinosaurs in the Desert: With the new creatures of Giganotosaurus, Saber-toothed Cat, Sea Scorpion, Terror Bird etc. feel some roars, self-guided tour, interactive fossil dig, dino themed photo & Dino merch & Dino Snacks.

Zoo Lights : This season Phoenix zoo enhance the taste of thrill with the new lighting, new animal lanterns & displays with Santa Experience. The brand new music with the lighting shows.

All zoo trails are not open for ZooLights except outer tropics trail trail in this year. The size of the zoo is very big therefore it is difficult the cover the lights on entire zoo.

During Zoolight you can find various food outlet/eateries under the Zoolight event.

The special ticket price is set for all ages group. Children ages under age 2 are free.

Phoenix Zoo detailed map is shwoing all the important information and sections of the map. All 4 trails are clerly shown on the map along with all the legends. Visitors can easily cover the zpp by following this map. All the animals, parking lots, Zoo entry gate, exit gate, water bodies are shown on the map. How to Reach Phoenix Zoo

The Phoenix Zoo is situated at 455 North Galvin Parkway, Phoenix, Arizona – 85008.  You can reach zoo from Phoenix Airport to Phoenix Zoo through Tram charges $2. You also can take Taxi for reaching the zoo.

Parking at Phoenix Zoo is absolutely free for the visitors. You can Park your vehicle at Papago Park in parking lot at Garlvin Parkway.

If main parking is full you can also park the vehicle at Zoo overflow lots.  The Phoenix Zoo also provide the dropping and loading facility for the guest to the parking.

Zoo Facilities

  1. Wheelchair, Strollers and Electrical Convenience vehicle also available on rental basis with the first come first served basis. Membership discount also available. All the vehicle always cleaned after use by the zoo staff.
