We are covering a palace where no one lived. We are talking about Datia Palace and it is known as Datia ka Mahal in Hindi. As per the locals, it is most haunted place of Datia city. Many rumors and stories are attached with the palace. Officially it is known as Bir Singh Palace. Bir Singh Palace Datia History

Bir Singh Palace is a 5 storeyed palace located on a hillock in Datia city. As per the stone inscribed in palace wall, palace was built by Budela Chief BirSingh Deo in 1620. It is also known as Purana Mahal and Nrisingh Dev Palace. It is built purely with stone and bricks. Wooden and iron did not used in the making of the palace. It is square in plan and having four octagonal towers. Palace ceiling is carved finely from inside.

Datia Palace Timings, Entry Fee and Guide Charges

Data palace timings are 9 AM to 5 PM. Last entry is allowed till 4 PM. Entry is completely free for all. Tickets are not required to visit this palace. The government authorised guide is available at the entry gate of the Palace. The guide is fluent in Hindi and English and charges for the guide are 150 Rs. Guided tour took around 30 minutes.

Location, Facility and Information

It is located at Datia city and distance from the Datia Railway station is 5 KM. It can be seen clearly from the Jhansi Gwalior Highway and from Railway track. If you are going through Gwalior Jhansi highway and have an interest in historical monuments, this place is for you. Shared auto and private auto can be hired from the station area to reach here. Auto takes around 15 minutes to reach here. Empty space is available outside the palace, which can be used to park the vehicles. Way into the palace is going through narrow streets, therefore, going here through cars might be little tricky.

Basic amenities are not available here. Visitors are advised to bring water bottle. There are no outlets outside the palace. The market is nearby to the palace. A camera is allowed inside the Datia Mahal free of cost. It is a picturesque monument and the whole Datia city and ancient jail can be seen from the top of the palace. Most of the parts of the palace are locked due to security reasons. 1 to 2 hours are sufficient to visit this palace. Summers are hot here, therefore, winter are monsoon month are most preferable time to visit the palace. Although cool breeze is running across the palace due to its architecture and location. A temple is located outside the temple and as per the locals, palace must be visited after visiting the temple to avoid the evil spirit. It is beautiful palace neglected by the most of the tourists. If you are in the region, then you must visit this palace. Some people called it Datia ka Qila.
