Hills always relief to human from fast life of cities. Every year thousands of people visit natural places to spend some quality time in the lap of nature. Hill stations are one of the most visited places in India. In hills, people go there for snowfall, rain, serene beauty, climate, waterfalls, rivers, etc. Chakrata Tiger Falls is one of the best waterfall of north India.
Chakrata town is popular for this water fall. It is India highest waterfall as water is falling from a height of 312 feet which is around 31 storey building. It is one of the best waterfall of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. Pressure of the falls is very loud and it is resembles like a tiger is roaring, therefore, it is named as tiger falls.
Tiger Falls Chakrata Timings
It is a natural place and can be visited anytime of the day. It is located in remote place around 20 KM from the city centre. Time between Sunrise to Sunset is best time to visit this incredible fall. A checkpost is located 1 KM before the fall which allow the visitors during the day time only. Mobile network coverage is very poor near the fall, therefore it is advisable to visit the fall during the daytime only.
Tiger Falls Chakrata Entry Fee
Entry to the fall is not free as mentioned on some websites. We have recently visited this fall and every visitors have to pay some service charges to visit the falls. Tiger falls entry fee to the adults is 30 Rs and Children 5 to 12 years of age have to pay 20 Rs. Kids below 5 years can enter to the area without paying any charges. Paid parking is available here and two wheelers charges are 20 Rs. 40 Rs for car, 75 Rs for 15 seater vehicle and 100 Rs for 6 wheeler vehicle having seat capacity of 32 to 40 seats. Vehicle can be parked near the entry ticket counters or you can drive the vehicle closer to the fall. You have pay parking fee if you are planning to park vehicle near ticket counter. Parking is free near the fall. You have to walk on 1 Kilometer trek from the parking spot or you can choose to walk on 500 meter trek if you decide to bring vehicle little down.
How to Reach Chakrata Tiger Falls
It is located near the the Chakrata and distance from Chakrata is around 20 KM. Tiger falls is 100 KM from the Dehradun. It is located in remote location and public transport is not available here. If you are planning to visit tiger fall from Dehradun, you have to enter Chakrata town before going towards falls. It is 100 KM far from the city and 3 hour driving is required to reach. From Chakrata, you can hire cabs to reach the fall. Distance from Delhi is 350 KM and 7 to 8 hours driving is required to reach here. It is a good place for nature lovers, adventure seekers, photographers, etc.
Tiger Falls Facilities and Advice
A small canteen is located near the fall with limited options. Toilet is also there before the fall. Wear comfortable shoes and clothes according to the weather. Summer and rainy season is the best time to visit the fall. If you are planning to bath in near the fall or in the pond, carry a separate pair of clothes. It is located in very remote location with mobile connectivity, so, take caution if you are going with family. As per our advise go there in groups if you are along with female member. In the Weekend of November, we are the only person visiting this beautiful fall. People having walking disability should avoid the fall as are near the fall is slippery and path to the trek is also little difficult. Do not take any unnecessary risk. Enjoy the fall and do not litter the surroundings.
Hotels in Chakrata
It is a small town and few tourist are visited here during the season. Hotels and homestay are located here in every budget range in the main market. Price start from 800 Rs per night to 2000 per night for a room can accommodate 4 to 5 people. Few restaurants and cafe are located in the market offers Veg and Non Veg food. A liquor shop is also in main market provides different varieties of beer, whiskey, rum, vodka, etc.
