Goa is known for cheap beer, fun, beaches, night life, scooter rides, parties, hippy culture, etc. Goa airport is located in South Goa, which have some beaches but no fun. North Goa part is famous for fun, beaches, booze, etc. Most of the visitors wants to North Goa as soon as they lands at Goa airport. During my last visit in 2017 end, I faced many difficulties to reach the Calangute city from Goa Airport. That was my first trip to Goa with friends and we have to spend one night in a Hotel near the airport. We have to spend 5500 for a night for a group of 5 People + 650 cab charges to reach the Hotel at night.. Next morning we asked for various modes of transport and travelled with the cheapest mode of transport. Below I am sharing all the modes of transport to reach the Calangute beach.

By Cab

Private cabs are the simplest mode to reach the Calangute area from Airport, however, it is a most expensive mode of transport. Ola and Uber are not available in Goa and you have completely depended on the Taxi union cabs. Cabs generally charge 1500 -1800 Rs in Day time depending on cab type (AC/ Non AC). At night they charge 25% extra on fare charges.

By Bus

These are the cheapest mode of transport to reach the Baga beach and Calangute beach. Buses are little inconvenient as compared to cabs, however, if you see the fare difference between buses and cabs, this inconvenience can be ignored easily. Buses are the best way to reach Calangute if you are backpackers or light in luggage. Two buses need to be changed to go to the Calangute city which have Candolim beach, Baga beach, Calangute beach and many other important beaches of North Goa. I am explaining all the buses and changing point to reach Calangute.

Dabolim Airport to Vasco Da Gama:

After getting out of the Airport, buses are available from the main road which drops you to the Vasco DA Gama city. The Vasco DA Gama city is just 5 KM from Airport. Bus ticket price is around 5 to 10 Rs and traveling time is around 15 minutes. Bus service is frequent on this route.

Vasco Da Gama to Panaji:

After deboarding the Bus at Vasco city, you have to board another bus for the Panaji city. Regular and government-operated Kadamba buses are played on this route along with private buses. Kadamba Buses are the Air conditioned low floor buses which are in good condition. Vasco to Panjim AC bus fare is 37 Rs as per my 2017 trip. Private and regular buses have less tickets prices as compared to AC bus. Distance between these two cities are 26 KM and time taken by bus is around.

Panaji to Calangute Bus:

After leaving the bus at Panaji, another bus need to be boarded to reach the Candolim, Calangute or Baga Area. Bus tickets are around 20 Rs and distance is around 15 KM. The bus takes around 1 hour to reach the destination.
