Mani Bhavan Gandhi Sangrahalaya and Library
Mani Bhavan is a two-storied building in Gamdevi on laburnum road. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi sacrifices his life for the independence of this country and this Bhavan is showing his life. Mani Bhavan is transformed into the Gandhi Museum. Gandhi Ji contribution is remarkable in the independence of India and his life is portrayed in the Mani Bhavan Gandhi Museum. President Barack Obama visited this place in November 2010 during his visit to India. If you are a history, enthusiastic and wants to know about the life of Gandhi ji, this place is for you.
About Mani Bhavan
This is the main centre for Gandhiji’s pre independence activities between 1917 to 1934. This house is the witness of many pre independence movements like Satyagraha, Swadeshi, Khilafat Movement, Non-Cooperation, Khadi movement, etc. Gandhi Ji visited this house frequently for attending the meeting and making their movement stronger day by day. Mani Bhavan has very important place in Gandhi Ji life and pre independence movement. In 1932, British forces arrested the Gandhi Ji from the terrace of this house.
This museum depicts the life of Gandhi Ji through pictures of this great leader. A library is located in the first floor of the building. The library consists nearly 40000 books related to Gandhi Ji. An auditorium is built on the first floor, which plays the movies related to Gandhi Ji. The Gandhi Smarak Nidhi office is also located on this floor. This floor can also be used for various seminars, competitions and discussions of related to Gandhi Ji with school and college students. Second floor of the this Gandhi Museum is kept in original setting from the Gandhi Era. Nearby room is showing the life of Gandhi ji through the photographs.
Mani Bhavan Gandhi Museum Timings and Entry Fee
Museum Timings: This opens at 9.30 AM in the morning and closes at 6 PM in evening. It remains open on all the days of the week. One to two hour visit is sufficient to visit this place.
Museum Library Timings: Library timings are same as the museum timings (9.30 AM to 6 PM) in weekdays. It remains closed on public holidays and 2nd & 4th Saturdays.
Entry Fee: There is no ticket price for entry in the Mumbai Mani Bhavan Gandhi Museum. Entry is completely free for the all the age groups, race and religion.
Facilities: The building has clean washroom of European style. Parking is a problem here and it has a very limited parking space. Cameras are allowed and there are no restrictions on the photography. Maintain peace and decorum of the museum and library.

Address 19 Laburnum Road, Gamdevi, Mumbai. It is located in Gamdevi in Mumbai. It is well connected with the rest areas of Mumbai city. It is very near to Chowpatty beach of Mumbai.
How to Reach Charni road and Grant road stations are the nearby stations near this museum. Both of the stations of this western railway line are around 2 KM from here. Visitors can take an auto from here to reach the museum.
