Laxminarayan Temple is also known as Birla Mandir is located in the west of Connaught Place. The temple is located in a peaceful area near Gole market, Delhi. The temple is dedicated to god Laxminarayan, who is usually referred as Lord Vishnu. Shiva, Krishna and Buddha temples are also present in the complex. It is one of the most famous and visited tourist attraction of Delhi and famous among the Indians as well as foreigners also. On the occasion of Janmashtami, lacs of devotees came to the temple for worship.
Laxminarayan Temple History
Birla Mandir built by industrialist Baldeo Das Birla and his son Jugal Kishore Birla, so it is called as Birla Temple. Maharaj Udaybhanu Singh laid the foundation stone of Birla Mandir. The construction of the temple was started in 1933 and it was inaugurated in 1939 by Mahatma Gandhi. Main architect of the temple was Sris Chandra Chatterjee. The temple covers an area of about 7.5 acres and it has some fountains, children’s play rides in the huge garden of Temple.
Birla Mandir Timings
Birla temple opens on all days of the week through out of the year. The timing of the temple is 4.30 AM to 9.00 PM and it remains closed from 1.30 PM to 2.30 PM for one hour. Entry is completely free for all visitors (Indians and foreigners). Morning and evening is the best time to visit during Aarti hours. On weekend and holidays lot of visitors came to the temple at all the time of the day.

Birla Mandir is just 2 KM away from the main Connaught place and 1 KM from Talkatora Stadium. The nearest Metro station is Ramakrishna Ashram Marg Metro Station (RK ashram metro station) which is under a mile (1.4 KM). Birla Mandir can be reached via Metro, DTC Bus, Auto, cab or by private car. The temple complex has a big green park and a cafeteria, which offers average food.

Parking facility is available from the backside of the temple. Camera and photography are not allowed inside the temple, you can click unlimited number of pictures outside of the temple and in the complex. Visitors should also visit the park of the Temple, where fountains and animal sculpture are built to entertain the kids.
