Chhatarpur Temple is a Hindu temple situated in Chhatarpur area, Delhi and it is dedicated to goddess Katyayani. It is also known as Shri Aadya Katyayani Shakti Peetham. It was second largest temple of the world before the establishment of Akshardham Temple. Chhatarpur Mandir attends thousands of devotees everyday. During Navratri festival, long queues of visitors can be seen waiting to offer their prayers to goddess Katyayani. Shree Adya Katyayani Shaktipeeth Mandir is one of the most visited temple of Delhi.
The temple is constructed of marble completely. There are a total number of 20 small and large temples in 70 acres of Mandir complex. It is an old temple in India and it was established in 1974 by Baba Sant Nagpal ji.
Nearest Metro Station and How to Reach
Nearest metro station to reach Chhatarpur temple is Chattarpur Metro Station located on the yellow line. It is 500 meters far from the temple and a 10 minutes’ walk is sufficient. Chhatarpur village bus stand and Chattarpur crossing are the nearest bus stands. Devotees can reach the temple by taking cabs, auto Rickshaw and city bus services. It is located at a distance of 4 km from UNESCO world heritage site, Qutab Minar. Vehicle parking is also available here. It is advisable to use public transport during Navratri season due to heavy rush.

Chattarpur Temple in Navratri
Maa Mahishasurmardini and Ashtbhuji temples are present inside temple complex. In the Baradari complex, Idols of Lord Kartikeya, Lord Shiva, Maa Saraswatiji, Lord Ganeshji and Maa Lakahmiji are kept during Navratras for worship. Havan is performed and its participants are required to observe strict austerities during the entire period. The Durga Saptsati paath is performed during the days of Navratras. There is the temple of Bhairon Baba as well.
Navratra festivities are celebrated in the Chattarpur temple twice a year during September and October (Sharad Navratra) at the time of Dussehra and during March-April,(Vasant Chaitra Navratra) commenced with Ram Navami. The temple opens the whole night during Navratras. Very huge number of people visits the temple every day during Navratra. Lunger is served to lakhs of people in temple after offering it to Maa Annapurna.
Chhatarpur Temple Facilities
There are 12 halls and 36 rooms in the temple complex. It is available for devotees and volunteers to use. Parking is free for the devotees visiting the temple. Shoe Rack, cloak room and drinking water are available for the convenience of visitors. There are shops too, for buying various offerings, Prasad, religious books and idols.
The temple is situated in a peaceful area, where you will feel spirituality. People visit the temple in search of peace. It is a nice place to spend some good time with family and friends. The Temple complex is very beautiful and a lovely place to click some nice photographs. It is advised to take prior permission from the respective authority before clicking any pictures as some of the areas are restricted.
