Tughlaqabad Fort Delhi

Tughlaqabad fort is a massive fort in Delhi. It is ruined fort and considered as a haunted place. It was built in 1321 the founder of the Tughlaq dynasty (Ghiyas-ud-din Tughlaq). It was abandoned in 1327. Tughlaqabad Fort Delhi is a very huge structure and it is made of stone. Tughlaqabad city supposed to have 52 gates and 13 gates are remaining now.

Tughlaqabad Fort Timings

Fort opens all day of the week from sunrise to sunset. Opening time of Tughlaqabad fort is 6 AM (depends on season) and it closes at 6 PM. Opening and closing time is depends on Sunrise and Sunset according to the season. The fort is spread over in a vast area and at least 3 hour visit is required to cover the main areas of the fort.

Tughlaqabad Fort Tickets

Entry fee for Tughlaqabad fort is very affordable; Indian tourist has to pay 155 Rs and Children up to 15 years are eligible for free entry. Foreigners can enter in the fort by purchasing an entry ticket of 200 Rs. Visitors of SAARC and BIMSTEC Countries have to pay 15 Rs for Entry Ticket.

How to Reach

Fort is located on the Mehrauli Badarpur Road. Best way to reach here via private vehicles. Delhi Metro stations are far from this location. Tughlaqabad Fort nearest metro station is Okhla Metro Station located on Violet Line. It is 7 KM away from the fort. Visitors can reach here via city buses, auto and cabs.

Best Time to Visit

Winter and Monsoon season is the best season to visit. If you are going into the summer season, morning time will be the best time to visit the fort. Summers can be very hot and proper care should be taken at the time of the visit.

Parking facility is available here. It is spread in a vast area, therefore visitors are advised to wear comfortable shoes during the visitors. Very limited facilities are available inside. It is good to bring food and water and do not litter inside the fort.

Fort spreads in very big area and couples should avoid the deserted place of the fort as safety precautions.
