Indore Zoo

Kamla Nehru Prani Sangrhalaya is the official name of Indore Zoo. Indore Chidiya Ghar is situated in Navlakha area. It was opened in 1974 in just 17 acre area and in 1999 32 acres of land of Quadibag was acquired by Zoo authorities to extend the zoo area to 51 acres. The zoo is owned, Managed and operated by the Indore Municipal Corporation.

Animals in Indore Zoo

Indore Zoo has various carnivores, herbivores and omnivores animals. The zoo is famous for white tigers, Royal Bengal tiger, panther, Himalayan Beer, elephants, crocodiles, Asiatic lions, white peacocks, Emu bird, foxes, different type of monkeys and beers. Various types of exotic birds, trees and plants are also present here.

Indore Zoo Timings, Entry Fee

Indore Zoo opens from Tuesday to Sunday and remains closed on Monday. Visiting hours are 9 AM to 7 PM from March to June and it remains open from 9 AM to 6 PM during July to February. Indore Zoo entry fee for Indian national is 10 Rs and foreigners have to 500 Rs for the entry ticket of Indore Zoo. Children under 2 years of age are eligible for free entry. Still camera charges are 30 Rs and for video camera visitors need to pay 50 Rs. Wildlife guided tour also available in the Indore zoological park for schools, foreigners, tourist and students. Two hours visit is sufficient to visit the entire zoo. Online ticket booking is not available for Zoo.

Indore Zoo Facilities

All basic facilities are present in the Indore Zoo like Drinking water, Rest area, shades, First Aid, clean toilets, proper signage for easy navigation and wheel chair facilities are available for handicapped people. Parking facility is also present in the Chidiyaghar. Lush Green gardens are well maintained.

Best Time to Visit and How to Reach

Winter and Monsoon season is considered as the best season to visit Indore Zoo, in summer temperature can shoot climb up to 45 degree Celsius. The zoo is 2 Km away from the Indore junction railway station and Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar international airport is 11 KM away from the Zoo. Visitors can take the city bus service, auto and cabs to reach. Holkar cricket stadium is less than 4 KM awy from the Zoo.
